Knights of Columbus will
again be collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantries.
This starts Ash Wednesday, February 14, and will end on Palm Sunday, March
25. You will find the “40 Cans for Lent” blue barrel in the Church lobby.

Relief Services Rice Bowl
Catholic Relief Services sponsors a "Rice Bowl" collection to support the
many efforts of CRS to serve the poor and vulnerable and promote human
rights and human dignity throughout the world. We, at Our Lady Queen
of Peace, join over 14,000 parish communities in participating in this
program. Please join your fellow parishioners and so many other
Catholics in taking a Rice Bown from the back of Church and filling a it
with loose change and money saved through your personal Lenten Practices.
The Lenten Fish
Fries will be held on all Fridays during Lent from February 16 through March
23. As always, the Fish Fries offer all parishioners an opportunity to
practice Lenten abstinence in a way that builds parish community and serves
as one of the major fundraising efforts of our parish. Please plan to
share a meals with family and friends and to support the effort by
volunteering some of your time.
The "R" and "R" Fund
The Facilities and Maintenance
Committee, in conjunction with the Finance Committee is launching a
Restricted Repair and Replacement Fund. Our facilities have been in
service for nearly 60 years and a major structural problem or equipment
failure could prove to be catastrophic to our operating budget. We are
establishing a restricted fund, a fund that cannot be used for regular
operating expenses, that is deposited with the diocese to earn interest
until the funds are needed, and provides the emergency funds needed to
cover large repairs and replacement of obsolete equipment. Just last week
there was another issue with the boiler, a piece of equipment that is near
the end of its life expectancy.
An envelope for contributions to this fund will be added to parishioner's
envelope packets and a category will be created for online donations.
Watch the bulletin for more information about this fund and how it will be
managed to serve the needs of our parish family.
If you can, please be generous in supporting this fund.
